Class Equity at Kindle Farm

In 2016 ACT facilitators Mikaela Simms and Angela Berkfield worked with Kindle Farm School staff for part of their staff retreat on better understanding class and how it impacts their own lives, the lives of their students, and the school. What an amazingly engaged group of people! They were ready to talk openly and honestly about a topic that is complex and sometimes sad and scary. Participants had many ideas for how they could bring a class equity approach to their classrooms and to the school – such as teaching about class, making sure students have access to basic needs items at school without stigma attached, and continuing their own learning about class.
